Our department's faculty member, Research Assistant Dr. Burak ALTUNSOY, participated in the NECRO-IST: Cemetery as Archive workshop organized jointly by Rutgers University and Sabancı University. At the workshop held at Minerva Han, our lecturer presented a paper titled “The Identification of Cemeteries and Their Relationship with Public Health in Late Ottoman Istanbul.” In his presentation, he discussed the identification of cemetery locations as an extension of the public health policies pursued by the Ottoman Empire in its final period. He then answered questions posed to him during the question-and-answer session at the end of the session.
