Our department's Associate Professor of Modern History, Dr. Muhsin Önal, presented his paper titled “The Troublesome Children of the East: Ottoman Family and Education Concepts in a 19th Century Travelogue” at the 1st International Social Research Symposium: Current Family Studies Symposium.
In his speech, Önal emphasized that “Travelogues do not tell us about the Ottoman Empire, but rather about the Ottoman Empire as the West wanted to see it.
