Our department faculty member, Associate Professor Dr. Muhammed CEYHAN, conducted research at archives and research centers in the cities of Thessaloniki and Preveza, Greece, between August 20, 2025, and September 1, 2025. First, he worked on various archive collections from the Ottoman period at the Macedonian Historical Archive in Thessaloniki. In this regard, he examined the 337-volume collection of Thessaloniki Sharia Court Records, one of the most important collections of the archive, as well as other collections. He also conducted research in many historical buildings in this city dating back to the Ottoman period, primarily the Hagia Sophia Mosque (now a church). He then moved on to the city of Preveze, where he conducted research at the Actia Nicopolis Foundation. He also examined the castle, port, and settlements in this city dating back to the Ottoman period.
