Our Department Vice Chair Dr. Cihan Yalvar, participated in the panel titled “Yalova in the Footsteps of the Silk Road: History, Culture, and Future Perspectives,” held on June 12, 2026, as part of the 2nd International Anatolian Silk Road Festival.
Dr. Cihan Yalvar, who moderated the panel, also served as the first speaker, delivering a presentation titled “Yalova at the Crossroads of the Silk Road: A Historical Transformation from the Byzantine to the Ottoman Era.” In his presentation, he discussed Yalova’s strategic location along the Silk Road throughout history, its significance during the Byzantine and Ottoman periods, and its cultural heritage.
During the question-and-answer session held at the end of the program, participants’ questions were answered, and a group photo was taken. The historical data and analyses presented during the panel once again highlighted that Yalova is one of the key crossroads along the Silk Road.
At the conclusion of the program, Dr. Cihan Yalvar was presented with a certificate of participation by Mr. Hasan Soygüzel, Chairman of the Yalova Provincial Assembly.
